Island Heights Board of Health

The Island Heights Board of Health held its meeting on January 13, 2009 at Island Heights Borough Hall. Pat Drapzak, Claire Cagney, Joanne Moy-Robinson, and Betsy Hyle (council laision) were present. Absent were Herman Hart, Fran Gajano and Eileen Mc Kenna. Also Pat Bailey, Board Secretary.

Meeting was brought to order at 9:10 AM.

The Rabies Clinic was held January 10, 2009 at the IH Public Works building. Pat Bailey (& friend Bob), Pat Drapczak, Betsy Hyle and Dr. M. O'Rourke were there to help. There were 52 shots administered. Sharon Wilber was in attendance from the boro to sell the dog and cat licenses.

We are not sure if Eileen Mc Kenna is staying on the board. We have not yet received a formal resignation letter. If she does resign, we have another opening on the board.

With only the Flu Clinic and Rabies Clinic as projects and litter to no other assignments, would it make sense to meet quarterly as apposed to monthly. We might get more attendance from board members. No official action was taken on this as Betsy offered to check to see if that is ok within the ordinace and the bylaws. Suggestion was to meet in March, June, September and December. This will be discussed at the next meeting.

The Senior Committee meets the 3rd Thursday of every month. They meet in the IH Grade School. They are hoping to have a Health Fair in the fall of 2009. It may be in October. It was suggested that is could be co-sponsored by the IH Board of Health and the board members could participate in the planning and volunteering.

Meeting adjourned.

Sincerely,
Betsy Hyle on behalf of Patricia C. Bailey, Sec.
